Día de Muertos en Mérida: Paseo de las ánimas
septiembre 21, 2018 9:51 pm 1 CommentCon el sonido de los caracoles, tambores y ocarinas el chamán maya anuncia la llegada de las ánimas desde las profundidades del Xibalbá o desde las ramas del ancestral árbol de ceiba. Esta es la noche en la que los difuntos, en un haz de luz y esencia, vuelven de nuevo a este mundo terrenal a convivir con los vivos. Así comienza el Hanal Pixán.
Cientos de ánimas inician un lúgubre recorrido, desde el cementerio general de Mérida hasta las calles de la antigua ruta hacia el camino real a Campeche. Ataviadas con sus trajes regionales y con su silencio sepulcral invitan a los vivos a unírseles en su místico recorrido visitando las ofrendas puestas en los diversos altares. Entre un gran respeto y contemplación avanzan niños, hombres y mujeres portando entre sus manos una vela que ilumina su camino hasta llegar en el antiguo parque de San Juan.
